Moving Day

I left LA Saturday morning. PJO and I got dressed up and went to the fanciest work holiday party I've ever been to. My mom watched both kids and we stayed at the hotel where the party was held. Amazing night away. Sunday morning, PJO went back to LA and I stayed with the kids at my mom's house. I picked up keys yesterday and in a few short hours we will head over to wait on deliveries and then PJO /movers.
I am so glad I didn't have to deal with the very tail end of packing, the movers or transporting two angry cats for 50 miles.
I can't believe it's all really happening. Now, I just need to figure out a way to cope without T.V. Or Internet for a week.

Btw, I learned you CAN have fun with labeling and color coding in a move! Almost made packing enjoyable.

Good luck! I'm dreading our eventual move, but I love your tape idea. Are you doing the move entirely yourself? Hiring someone to help with heavy stuff? My mind boggles every time I think of the details... our last 2 moves were full-service and paid for directly by our employers, and we were moving from much much smaller apartments!

But, back to the point, good luck! I'm sure with your organizational skills it will be as easy as a move can be :)

LL, sorry it took so long to respond...I feel like I'm just now coming out of the moving hangover. So we hired movers who basically just moved everything, large and small. I almost hired them to pack up most or all of our stuff too, but PJO insisted that we could do that ourselves (and he ended up doing a lot himself the night before until 4am). We moved from a 1,000 sq ft apartment (plus storage unit) and it took 3 movers 8 hours to load, drive and unload. Since moving, we have acquired two more bedroom sets and a playroom worth of furniture, plus we'll be getting some office furniture after Christmas. So next time we may have to just pay for a more full-service move.
Renting seemed like a great idea when we were looking at homes to buy, but knowing that we'll be moving again sometime soon makes me want to throw up.
