New stats:
Head Circumference: 17 1/2 inches (95th percentile)
Length: 27 inches (off the chart)
Weight: 19 lbs, 9 oz. (off the chart)
Yes, that is exactly 10 pounds more than his birth weight. Yes, he has already doubled his birth weight. Yes, I find this absurd.
The Doctor told Timmy that he was on his way to breaking the office record... the heaviest baby he's ever had weighed 27 pounds at 6 months. He once took care of Shaquille O'Neal's baby, and he was 24 pounds at 6 months. (Timmy gained 4.5 lbs in the past two months, can he have a repeat performance?)
Hmmm, that's some good milk you've been drinking, Timothy!
And now, since there's more to him than just his size...
Timmy,
It seems like you have changed more this month than ever before. You have really developed your own unique personality and we love it! We look forward to playtime with you more and more every day because you have the sweetest giggles and smiles. When we walk into the room, you look up and watch what we do. You like to have your eyes on us (or sometimes the cats) at all times.
New this month:
You bicycle your legs and wave your feet around in the air
You figured out that you have volume control, so you like to practice making different noises, alternating between indoor voices and outdoor voices. In the middle of babbling and telling us stories, you insert random shrieking and squealing, which sometimes stuns you.
You recognize bottles and pacifiers when they get close to your mouth, open up and wait for someone to put it in. You also like to wrap your hands around a bottle, although I don't think you can quite hold it up yet.
You are getting the hang of passing toys between your left and right hands... and then using both hands to shove the toy (or really anything you can get your hands on) in your mouth
You also love touching your hands... so you'll sit there wringing them, looking like an old man worrying about something.
You're getting better at balancing and are starting to sit a little better when we prop you up. Now you balance by leaning forward, but you don't stay upright on your own for very long.
We finally captured you rolling from belly to back on video! We think you know exactly how to roll because once you decide to do it, it happens pretty quickly. But most of the time when you're on your belly, you like to just keep your head up and look around or eat your hands, so the rolls don't happen all that often. You still don't roll from your back to your belly, although you kind of sway side to side. You're nowhere near crawling yet, but when you're on your belly, you sometimes push yourself sideways in circles.
While I love watching you grow and learn new things, I have to say, I'm not looking forward to baby-proofing and you being mobile quite yet. If I'm holding you, you touch my arm or hands and if I get close to your face when I talk to you, you reach out to touch my chin/mouth and explore it.
You have started to recognize and learn certain games we play... like when you're lying on your back, I grab both hands, count to 3 and pull you up to a sitting position. You anticipate sitting up with smiles and then immediately after sitting upright, you put one of my hands in your mouth as your reward.
You laugh at the "Momma called the doctor and the doctor said..." part of 5 Little Monkeys jumping on the bed every time. "Rooooooooooooooooll it...and paaaaaaaaaaat it...and mark it with a T" always gets a laugh too.
Most importantly, you sleep at night. Every night, you get a bath, then we put on your pjs and feed you. Around 7pm you get swaddled, kisses from mom and dad and then you fall asleep to the white noise machine on your crib. Generally you sleep 8-9 hours and then about 2 more after eating and getting your diaper changed. One night, you slept almost 10 hours straight and it was glorious!
You are definitely growing up! Most of your clothes now are 9 month size. You hardly resemble the little scrunched up newborn we brought home from the hospital anymore. It's hard to believe a third of a year has already passed since we first met you! We look forward to seeing all the ways in which you'll change next month, but a big part of me wishes time would slow down so we could enjoy every second even more.
Love you big guy,
Mom and Dad
