This time a month ago I was sitting in my hospital bed staring at you sleeping in the isolette next to me. Your daddy and I couldn't believe you were finally here. Now I stare at you every day and can't believe that you've only been here for one month. Our lives feel so full and complete now, it's hard to remember what we really did before you were here.
You don't always make it easy. You don't sleep as much as we would like, and sometimes it's hard for us to figure out what you need and what you want. But we're figuring each other out and learning together ... and that is so rewarding. When you cuddle up on our chest, look at us intently when we talk to you, notice something for the first time or even just sleep peacefully, you melt our hearts. When you cry, we feel heart pangs as we try to figure out a way to make you feel better. What they say about never knowing how much you can love someone until you have a child is so true. We love you more than we could ever have imagined.
You are growing and learning so much every day. Right now, you love being read to, talked to and sung to, especially if Jack Johnson is singing. Bath time is one of your favorite things, especially when we rub your head. You recognize our voices and faces, but you are just fine with anyone else holding you and giving you attention. You also recognize your own face, and are fascinated by your reflection in the mirror. You've had one super strong neck since you were born, and for the past few weeks, you have been able to lift your head up for minutes at a time, and move your head from side to side during tummy time. And the hands... OH the hands! Nothing gives you more comfort than having your hands up by your face. Sometimes you look like Mariah Carey singing the way you wave them around. We think it's the Italian in you... of course you talk with your hands! A true California boy, walks outside are one of your favorite things to do, whether you're in the stroller or the swing. You've enjoyed the unseasonably warm January weather, going to the beach and the 3rd Street Promenade, and the Farmer's Market. Everywhere you go, people ooh and ahh. They say you're adorable, and we can't help but agree. You don't respond to your name yet, maybe because we have given you so many... Timothy, Timmy, Tiny Tim, Mister Timster, Uno, poop monster, big guy, little guy... these have all been used to address you ... let us know when you have a favorite.
You're so easy to love and we are soaking up every single moment with you. Happy one month birthday baby!
Love,
Mommy and Daddy

aww- this was a sweet post! has it really been a whole month? no way...
I love giving Jacob a bath because it's when he's completely naked in his tub that I reallize how much he's grown- it's so fun now because he can grab his rubber duckies and splash the water.
I wonder when babies recognize their names... Jacob still doesn't know his yet...
And Timmy still looks to teeny tiny, like a newborn still- ahhhh, cuteness!
aww, I love the bath tub picture, he looks so thoughtful :)
I can't believe it's been a month either, time flies when it's someone else's blog!
