Our Other Babies

Before we brought Timmy home, PJO and I wondered (aka worried) about how our cats would react. They are very cuddly and needy, at least for cats, and we wanted them to stay that way. We definitely didn't want to deal with hostility between them and the baby.

They have been surprisingly good. They sniff him sometimes and try to sneak in the nursery, but that's about it. When he cries, they stand outside his door and look really concerned. When Timmy naps in our bed with us, they cuddle up too.

They are attention starved for sure, but they seem to be adjusting just fine.

Perhaps the one change in behavior I have noticed is their impetuous disregard for our no-going-on-the-kitchen-counter rule.

Maybe it's because we used to encourage it and they know we're too slow to get up and stop them now.

Or maybe they're just testing us. That's what cats do after all.
