Moving

Our apartment is a great apartment for law school - A huge one bedroom that is comfortable and has most of the conveniences that we need and want. We're in a great area, walking distance to the beach and a lot of restaurants and shopping. We would not think of moving if we were not having a baby, but I think we need a two bedroom if we want to stay sane.

Maybe we don't need a two bedroom yet? How long does a baby sleep in a cradle/bassinet? How bad would moving within the first 2 or 3 months be?

Since everything is a trade-off when you have a limited budget, I'm curious about what is important in an apartment (or really nice to have) when you have a baby.

* washer/dryer - Most places we're looking at don't have them in the apartment, but some do, and most have at least a laundry room for the building. How much laundry do newborns and infants generate?

* dishwasher - I can't lie, I think I would die without this.

* air-conditioning - it's pretty temperate here, we only use ours maybe two months out of the year, and we could probably get by without it. But I assume babies are really sensitive to temperature.

* Neighborhood - we wouldn't move to a BAD neighborhood, but some really have no restaurants or anything pretty to walk to. I guess it's not the worst thing to walk around a neighborhood just for the sake of walking...

I'm sure these are all just personal preferences, and I know people with kids who have none of these things. But if I can't have unlimited money, I want to know what I should be willing to sacrifice on.
