The past 72 hours have gone like this:
Friday:
PJO and I had been house hunting for a few months, casually at first but we almost put offers in on a few houses. Then we decided that we didn't like anything enough to make the jump and the market is still scary, so we decided to just rent a bigger place for the time being. Friday I drove down with him and the kids, dropped him off at the office, and then went to look at a few places. It was raining and I had both kids with me all day. Then PJO found out he would have to work late, so I entertained my preschooler and (mostly) kept my newborn from screaming for 13 hours...with my car as my home base. I managed to find a place and fill out our applications before we headed home. I am so, SO grateful I have a DVD player in the car.
Saturday:
PJO went into the office. I decided to take both kids and meet a friend and her daughter at a park. As I nursed Ellie before leaving, Timmy tripped while running to his room and split his lip open. I'm sure this won't be the last time I apply ice to a face and a baby to my boob simultaneously. That night, PJO got home just in time to change and go to my co-worker/friend's wedding while my mom stayed with the kids. It was easily the most beautiful, elaborate wedding I've ever been to, but by 10pm they still hadn't served dinner and we were falling asleep, so we headed home.
Sunday:
PJO goes back to the office. It's raining again. I have no idea what to do to entertain kids when it's raining outside. I headed to Nordstrom to make a return and then thought it would be a good idea to get a birthday present for PJO. After pushing the stroller and holding my 36-pounder for 5 city blocks only to find out the store didn't have what I wanted, I thought maybe it wasn't such a good idea after all. We got home and I resorted to the TV. I bought Toy Story 2 on Friday in an effort to get Timmy into at least one movie and to introduce him to those characters before we go see them in Disney on Ice in December. Thankfully, he will now sit through most of it.
I am so glad that tomorrow is Monday. The cleaning lady is coming and Timmy is going to school. I really freaking love my kids, but I could use a little break right about now. Actually, I could hang out with Ellie 24-7, but if I have to listen to another whiney meltdown from my almost-three year old who refuses to nap at home, I might poke my eyes out.
On the bright side, we survived, we have a place to live and a move-in date, and PJO is kicking ass at work and it's almost bonus time!
