SAHM = Productivity

In my first month of being a stay at home mom, I can already identify the aspect I'm going to love the most for the next year. Ok, aside from the obvious, obligatory answer of spending time with Timmy.
Creating and then checking things off of a personal to-do list. Thanks to a sale on Amazon, I have a subscription to Real Simple. I also just got a new library card and will be reading for pleasure in the very near future.

And MOVIES! Last night, I finally started catching up on movies that I have been missing out on. I watched Milk while snuggled up on the couch, next to a bowl of popcorn and my wild blueberry beer (yes, it was delicious). I also saw Bride Wars, which was actually pretty cute. Next up, Slumdog Millionaire. I think we'll be setting up a Netflix account sometime very soon.

Besides these admittedly leisurely activities, I have been able to cook, clean, run errands and do laundry without dreading taking the time away from something more pressing to get them done. I have all the time in the world now! I have been wondering how I would handle having "nothing" to do for the first time in my life, and I'm pretty sure PJO's prediction is right on: He says that I'll probably get bored somewhere in the middle of my time off. Near the end, I'll be getting sad that my deferment is coming to a close and that I'll be significantly reducing my Timmy time. I'm sure that's true. I still don't think I would ever be able to do the stay-at-home mom thing forever, but I have to admit that I'm kind of loving my life right now.

I honestly don't know how you do it. I've been doing the SAHM thing for two weeks, with mt husband also at home, and I have never been more exhausted in my life. I cannot wait for day care to start so I can get some rest and have the energy to catch up on my to-do list.

Sometimes I think if I managed to establish a routine I could do SAHM better and not get so tired. But I'm not sure how much that would really help.
